On 1st September 2024 we laid to rest our beloved Arabian gelding Paddy, after an acute episode of endotoxemia. Words cannot describe the heartache seeing him suffering, and to not have his joyful, cheeky presence in our paddock has left me bereft. Rest in peace my beautiful friend. While it was short as you were only eight, I am so grateful you were a part of my life for those few short years.
Quirky, cheeky, full of joy - you loved muzzle kisses and always wanted to come out of the paddock for a feed (not necessarily a ride, lol). You thrived on interaction and always wanted to be the first to be picked. You were a steady ride, although you were not very brave and preferred to follow. We had many great times and I especially enjoyed our times riding up the hill at the back of the property or ponying River, your Standardbred best buddy, along the road. You were much braver with River in tow.
Whenever I see a black and orange butterfly I am reminded of you, and know that your spirit is close. On the day you left, I asked for a sign that you had found the way, and almost immediately there was a black and orange butterfly dancing around me. Throughout that first day, that butterfly visited me, dancing and fluttering joyously - a metaphor that you had found your wings.
RIP Ejen Park Impact, aka Paddy
